Gutta Percha Marble Circa 1880s

Also known as a "paper mache" marble the Gutta Percha marble is made of the sap of the tropical percha tree, which is native to Southeast Asia. The marbles were produced in the mid 1880s in England and New Zealand. This one measures 1 13/16" and was for sale at the 2009 Las Vegas Marble Show. From the collection of Tom Rudolf.
